Sensory Friendly Play Time

The fourth Friday of each month is our Sensory Friendly play time for children on the autism spectrum or with other sensory sensitivities and their families to connect and explore in a calm and quieter space.
All regular exhibits will be open. We will have sensory bins, communication boards, and a low light calming space.
Sensory Friendly Play Time is a FREE program made possible by Variety - The Children's Charity of Iowa. Variety - the Children’s Charity is dedicated to improving the lives of children who are at-risk, underprivileged, critically ill, or living with special needs throughout Iowa. Funding is provided to programs and initiatives that directly impact the well-being of children throughout Iowa.
