Sensing the Season at Rock Point
About this Event
Come to Rock Point Center for a guided activity about engaging with growth and change in our natural environment throughout the season. This includes a brief introduction into phenology (the study of seasonal environmental and biological changes) and the opportunity to explore spots along the trail with prompts and a scavenger hunt to aid your observations. We welcome visitors to return to the center to contribute to our phenology wheel of illustrations and notes about our findings from each month of the year. This will be a space to share observations and reflections with neighbors and community members, to learn from and alongside each other, and to make the most of each amazing season VT has to offer. All ages are welcome, with a range of prompts and activities that can speak to naturalists of all levels.
We will gather at 10:30 am at the visitor center for introductions and instructions, people will split off to explore the trails around 11:00am, and reconvene around 11:30am for reflections and conversation.
There is seating available in the visitor center and the space just outside of the building. Observations can be made from many spots near the visitor center, which will include a range of walking distances to accommodate a wide range of comfort levels.
Visitors should bring water, sun and bug protection, and a journal and writing utensil if they wish to record observations.
