Join IATC’s David Kappler and Tom Anderson on a hike celebrating the legacy of Senator Bill Ramos. Last September, the Issaquah City Council voted to rename the East Sunset Way Trailhead in the late senator’s honor, recognizing his dedication to public service and his deep love of the outdoors. The new sign was unveiled in October. Before serving in the Washington State House of Representatives, Senator Ramos was a member of the Issaquah City Council. During his time in the Legislature, he was known for his work to protect Washington’s natural resources.
We’ll start at the Senator Bill Ramos Memorial Trailhead and head out along some of the late senator’s favorite jogging routes as we reflect not only on Bill’s legacy but also on the collective efforts that made permanent protection of the Issaquah Alps possible. We’ll discuss the efforts of Bill Ramos, Ruth Kees, Bill Longwell, and others to protect this area, as well as the work that remains.
