Screen and Sort: SENA film premiere and volunteer event

Join us for the world premiere of SENA: a meal at the edges of empire, a new 30-minute documentary from Kansas City-based filmmakers John Warren Borja Martín Austin and Nathan Lee Johnson.

SENA is a poetic and contemplative journey through the U.S. food system, traveling from a commercial beekeeping operation in Georgia to the island of Guam, with stops in between.

The screening will take place at the central facility of Kanbe’s Markets, a Kansas City nonprofit working to keep fresh produce out of landfills and get it into communities with limited access to fresh food.

After the film, we’ll roll up our sleeves and volunteer with Kanbe’s, helping sort some of the thousands of pounds of food that move through their facility each day.

Watch the food system, then get hands-on with it.
