June Birnie - Musicianship for Electronic Music Producers
As electronic music producers it is easy to get lost in a sea of information about compressors, distortion, gain staging, and mixing that we forget to connect with our musicality. It’s called electronic dance music, not electronic dance parameter tweaking. Lucky for us musicianship can be practiced with no gear whatsoever. Whether you are waiting for the bus, taking a shower, or walking your dog, you can develop your musicianship with a handful of basic principles and some know-how. By the end of this talk you will have a more robust understanding of rhythm, melody, and harmony that you can apply in and out of the DAW.
*** 8:00pm - 9:15pm ***
|| Works In Progress for Feedback ||
We'll be listening to people’s songs, on a club system, for feedback and encouragement. Sign up to have your song or work in progress played. There is a limit of 3 minutes per song and slots are first come, first served. We will be taking 2 mins of feedback per track from the peers in the class. We have USB or aux cord options for plug in.
------------------------------------
SAFER SPACE
The following actions or display of behavior will not be tolerated: bigotry, racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, and ableism.
Consent is required when interacting with others. A person’s choice of self-expression is not an invitation for non-consensual touching. Any form of harassment including leering, rude comments or touching will be dealt with, and anyone caught harassing other patrons will be given a lifetime ban from our club. Our staff is here to support you
