Self Defense for Beginners
About this Event
This course is an introduction to self defense for anyone who wants to learn effective techniques for keeping yourself safe in uncomfortable or threatening situations.
You don't have to have prior experience, you don't have to be athletic and you don't have to join an MMA gym to learn (although encouraged) to learn to keep yourself safe in most situations.
During this 2 hour seminar, we will cover some common real world scenarios and how to quickly and effectively diffuse a potentially dangerous encounter.
Agenda:
Situational awareness discussion
Light calisthenics, warm up and stretches
Wrist Grab drills
Striking (palm strike, groin kick)
Self Defense Scenarios:
⁃ choke from front
⁃ Choke against the wall
⁃ Bear hug from behind arms free
⁃ Bear hug from behind arms trapped
We finish with a realistic High Stress Drill to help imbed muscle memory
