Self-Abhyanga — The Ritual of Coming Home
This workshop introduces the ancient Ayurvedic practice of Abhyanga, a warm-oil self-massage ritual used for centuries to nourish the body, calm the nervous system, and restore a sense of presence. Participants learn the traditional techniques and sequencing of self-abhyanga, along with the physical, emotional, and spiritual reasoning behind the practice, so they leave not just knowing the how, but understanding the why.
We'll explore how this simple daily ritual supports circulation, skin health, and grounding, while offering a non-verbal path back to self-attunement and care. This class is especially meaningful for those who spend their lives giving to others and are ready to turn some of that care inward.
Each participant is guided through the practice individually within the group setting, so the instruction feels personal even while shared in community.
No prior experience with Ayurveda is necessary. Participants should wear comfortable clothing you don't mind getting a little oily, and please bring a towel.
Duration: 90 minutes
Early bird through 7/25: $55, after $65
Meet Sarah Schiff Ayurvedic Practitioner, RYT, LMT:
For over a decade, Sarah has devoted herself to the 5,000-year-old practice of Ayurveda. She didn't set out to find it; Ayurveda found her, and she felt an immediate, deep connection to the
study that has shaped her life ever since. Her training has taken her around the world, beginning in the United States and Israel and deepening in India, where the practice originated.
Sarah is also a yoga teacher, with a practice and teaching style rooted in yin and gentle yoga.
What sets Sarah apart is how fully she lives what she teaches. Rather than simply instructing, she embodies these principles in her own daily life, and that authenticity is what clients feel and
respond to. Many say it's her personal connection to the practice that inspired them to make real changes in their own lives.
What Students Say
"Learning abhyanga with Sarah was such a restorative experience. I loved participating in a group because the instruction was specific to each of us but it felt special to share the exploration with other women."
"Sarah has a gift to pass the wisdom of ancient Ayurveda in a well-digestible way for people living in the modern era. I am grateful for this tool which is now part of my self-care."
"Sarah's self-abhyanga class was a deeply nourishing experience that gave me a powerful new self-care tool. The practice is uniquely intimate and sensory, and fosters intention, safety, and connection to myself and my body."
"There is no pressure or judgement to change, only suggestions and logical teaching. If you are looking for that shift in your soul, I would strongly recommend taking Sarah's self-abhyanga class."
