About this Event

Please join Grow Food Northampton (GFN), the Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust (NEFOC), and Smith College's Environmental Science and Policy Department for a screening of the award-winning, meditative, lyrical documentary film, "Seeds," which follows the decline of generational Black farmers, the significance of owning land, and the embedded racism that persists for Black farmers today in accessing land and funds.

Following the film, we will be joined by producer Sabrina Schmidt-Gordon, in conversation with Christine Hutchinson, the Black Land Stewardship Cultivation co-Director with NEFOC, on the state of Black farmers today and the film's lasting impact.

The film has won many awards and accolades since premiering in 2025, including the Grand Jury Award at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, Grand Jury Award at the 2025 Full Frame Film Festival, and Best Feature for Documentary Award at the 2025 Athens International Film + Video Film Festival, among many others.
