About this Event
Ready to grow your own plants from seed? Join us for an informative and approachable class led by Joan Spiegel, owner of Olde Homestead Farm on Cape Cod.
In this hands-on style session, Joan will walk you through the essentials of starting both annuals and perennials from seed. You’ll learn the best timing for indoor seed starting and outdoor sowing, along with how to avoid common early-stage diseases and set your seedlings up for success.
A special focus will be placed on soil media, including examples of different mixes, seed starting kits, and recipes for soil blocks—giving you practical tools you can use at home right away.
Joan brings years of experience growing vegetables, lavender, and hyssop from seed, along with a deep commitment to soil health and sustainable growing practices. As a certified master beekeeper and co-owner of Olde Homestead Farm, she has helped transform one of the oldest working farms on Cape Cod into a thriving, pollinator-friendly landscape.
Tickets are $5 and include a $5 coupon toward a $20 purchase of seeds and seed starting supplies, redeemable the day of the class.
Whether you're brand new to seed starting or looking to refine your technique, this class will give you the confidence to grow more from seed this season.
