Seed Saving; from basil to zucchini! with Chris Montesano
This one hour workshop will help you preserve seeds from your vegetables to grow next year!
Our favorite gardener, Chris Montesano, will be leading a one-hour seed saving workshop at the Blue Zones Project office, 31 N Washington Street.
This workshop will be a power point presentation showing you how to save seeds for 13 different crops from basil to zucchini. The presenter, Chris Montesano has been saving seeds since the 1980s. He first began with his grandpa's beans and tomatoes which he began growing at six years old.
Chris worked for 37 years at the Sheep Ranch Catholic Worker Farm, where he saved seeds for many of the crops they grew. Along with his families, he used heirloom seeds from bountiful gardens, which were all open pollinated seeds and seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. After he retired from the farm, he continued using those same seeds to grow a year-round garden here in downtown Sonora, CA. 68% of the crops he now grows are from seeds he saves year by year.
Please RSVP with Blue Zones Project, 209-694-3217 or here on Eventbrite.
