Back by popular demand, the PLANT SWAP!Yes, it's Mother's Day - come make a nice gift basket for mom out of seeds and plants.
Bring your extra or unwanted seeds and starts to our sharing event and take home new ones! If you’re a beginner or don’t have any seeds or starts to share, you’re invited too. This is a great opportunity to pick up what you need to get started at zero cost.
Entrance is FREE.
– Bring cleaned/hulled seeds that are no more than three years old.
– Seed company seeds in their original packaging are great.
- Organize your seeds into areas provided.
- Look at what is already there and take what you need.
- If you didn’t bring in any seeds to share, there’s a donation box (optional).
Please bring your own containers for seeds, and a way to label them. While some seeds will be pre-packaged, many seeds saved by other gardeners will not be. Reusable containers are always encouraged! Mason and baby food jars, empty pill bottles, yogurt containers, etc. all work well.
**GUIDANCE FOR PLANTS AND STARTS**
The plant/start share will occur on the back patio behind the meeting rooms. You can access this area directly by walking around the west side of the building.
What to bring: any plants started from seed, divided, or volunteers. All plants are welcome, whether they are vegetables, flowers, herbs, or perennials. Divisions or volunteers of landscape plants are happily accepted. No loose soil - plants must be contained in some way, such as a pot, cup, or baggie. Let’s keep it clean so we don’t get kicked out of the library! Please identify all plants with a label of some sort, even if it’s “Mystery Volunteer Tomato.”
This will be an Open Swap – Take a plant, leave a plant, aka "freely sharing" plants. If you would like to swap or trade plants, you will have to facilitate the trade yourself.
Feel free to comment on the Facebook Event if you have plants you know you will bring to the share for early coordination.
The event is hosted by the Ballinger Organic Garden. It is being held not-for-profit and as a service to the gardeners in the greater MLT area. Everyone is welcome!
To be held at the MLT Public Library near City Hall
