Soldier Pass is a PERMIT REQUIRED trail. You MUST purchase a permit here==> https://www.recreation.gov/permits/4251901 before this event. It's $6
Soldier Pass only allows for 12 private vehicles per day. So that means we can only take 11 of you. I also will not take more than that on Broken Arrow as well. It'll be way too congested. If I have more response than 11 I will add another run in the future.
-Soldier's Pass is an iconic offroad trail in Sedona. Not only will you experience driving your offroad rig through the beautiful red rock country on this 1.5-mile trail (3.0 miles out and back), you will get up close and personal with the Devil's Kitchen Sinkhole and the Seven Sacred Pools. There are a few challenging sections on the trail, starting just shortly past the trailhead. The initial rock ledge is considered the trail gatekeeper. Successful navigation here provides a good indication of your ability to traverse the remaining obstacles on your way to Devil's Kitchen. The terrain ranges from smooth dirt to rocky hill climbs with ledges and volleyball-sized rocks. Use caution driving and be aware of hikers as the trail intersects the Soldier Pass, Tea Cup, Adobe Jack, and Jordan Hiking Trails. All are extremely popular and busy, even on weekdays. Don't be tempted to park at the end of the trail and hike to "The Arches" of Brin's Mesa. No parking is permitted. The Forest Service implemented a system to access Soldiers Pass OHV Trail. Only 12 permits are available each day. Availability can vary but generally plan for a 1-2 week lead-time. The online application requires your license plate number and a small fee. The permit provides a gate code. The same code works for the electronic parking lot gate as well as the combination padlock on the Forest Service trail gate. The permit does not allow for parking at the hiking trailhead parking lot.
-After Soldier Pass we plan to stop for lunch back at Famous Pizza before heading to Broken Arrow.
-Broken Arrow is one of the most popular and iconic off-road trails around- for good reasons! With amazing red rock formations towering into the sky, this off-road trail is full of awe-inspiring beauty and moderate challenges for your vehicle and driving skill. If you arrive early in the morning, you can watch the sun's spectacular rise over the high Mogollon Rim cliffs to the north and east. Later in the evening, you can see more dramatic highlights of the natural features as shadows become more pronounced.
