Margaret Hedley on ‘Women in the Coalfield in the 19th Century’We are delighted to announce that researcher, author and former Sunderland head teacher Margaret Hedley will be joining us at the Secular Salon this month.
After taking early retirement, Margaret embarked on a new journey, establishing a research business specialising in family history. Her expertise has connected clients from around the world to their roots in the North of England.
Margaret's personal passion lies in uncovering the life of her great-great-grandmother in County Durham. Originally published under the same title as her talk, her research has expanded into a captivating, published trilogy. These books trace the fortunes of Hannah’s family from the early 19th century through to the pit closures in East Durham during the 1960s.
Margaret brings her wealth of genealogical knowledge to life in engaging talks on local and family history, sharing stories that connect the past to the present.
Cost: Free (donations welcome to help cover costs)
Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be provided, so bring a friend and enjoy an afternoon of local history and discovery!
