About this Event

After a tense recertification meeting leaves him questioning whether he’s about to lose the housing voucher that has shaped his entire life, Nathaniel “Section 8 Nate” Williams takes audiences back to the chaotic days leading up to the moment that changed everything. A proud Section 8 recipient turned viral livestreamer, Nate invites his online audience into his Los Angeles home for what begins as another day of content—showing off his tank tops, sharing a mukbang courtesy of Food Stamp Felicia, and entertaining the chat. But when a housing inspection notice arrives live on stream, his carefully crafted online world collides with the reality of the life he’s been trying to hold together.

As inspection day approaches, Nate scrambles to prepare his apartment while juggling unexpected visitors, relationship drama, internet fame, family expectations, and the pressure of performing for an audience that only sees part of his life. Through comedy, storytelling, livestream interactions, and rapid-fire character transformations—including Food Stamp Felicia, Top Dasher, the Male man, his cousin, his parents, and the housing inspector—Nate navigates the fine line between survival and self-sabotage, public performance and private truth.

As the inspection spirals into chaos in front of thousands of viewers, Nate is forced to confront a question far bigger than whether he’ll pass: What happens when the identity you’ve built your life around begins to outgrow the life you’re trying to create?

Funny, chaotic, vulnerable, and sharply observant, Section 8 Nate explores housing insecurity, poverty, masculinity, internet fame, family legacy, government assistance, and the complicated relationship between pride, ambition, and survival. At its heart, the play asks not just how society sees people on Section 8, but what it means to let go of an identity that once helped you survive.Runtime: 60 Minutes
