About this Event
La Maison Française is honored to welcome acclaimed journalist and bestselling author Elaine Sciolino for an evening exploring the mysteries, history, and enduring allure of the Louvre.
Drawing from her book Adventures in the Louvre: How to Fall in Love with the World’s Greatest Museum and with rare access to the people who keep the museum running, Sciolino takes us behind the scenes of this once former fortress and palace of kings. She shares stories of iconic and overlooked works of art and introduces us to directors and curators - past and present - firefighters, gardeners, and security guards (many of whom insist the museum has ghosts).
The visual presentation will be followed by a conversation with Mary Louise Kelly, anchor of NPR’s All Things Considered, and audience Q&A.
A longtime friend of the French Embassy and former Paris bureau chief of The New York Times, Sciolino brings a unique perspective on the Louvre and the enduring power of French culture to inspire and captivate
