The Secrets and Power of Your Pelvic Floor series is back!
If you have to deal with any of these:
- postpartum recovery
- stress urinary incontinence
- pelvic organ prolapse
- post pelvic surgery recovery
- peri/post menopausal changes in pelvic floor function
- concerns about your pelvic floor vitality,
this course is made for you.
It will also be helpful if you have DRA or want a better connection with your body.
Join me for this 8-week series of classes to get to know the part of your body ecosystem that does so much work behind the scenes, yet stays underappreciated - all the way until you meet its dysfunction in some form. During this course, you'll be able to improve your awareness of the pelvic area and learn how to include your pelvic floor in everything you do. You’ll learn about your pelvic floor (PF) through eight Awareness Through Movement® lessons, discussions and practical anatomy explorations.
WHEN: Tuesdays 9:30-10:30 am,
April 21 - May 12 + June 2 - 23, 2026 (no class on May 19 and 26)
WHERE: River Ridge East Birth Centre,
35 Puutikitiki St, Hamilton East
COST: $177 for the whole 8-week course, including audio recordings of the movement lessons. Mats, balls, cushions and blankets are provided.
What we are going to cover during these workshop-style classes:
Week 1️⃣ - Your bony pelvis as your pelvic floor foundation. Role of your nervous system in PF healing. Pelvic self-palpation
Week 2️⃣ - Pelvic and breathing diaphragms as parts of one system. Ribs mobility. Easy decompression techniques to unload your PF
Week 3️⃣ - Pelvic mobility. Front and back of your PF
Week 4️⃣ - More pelvic mobility. Left and right sides of your PF - why can they be so different?! Pelvic clock
Week 5️⃣ - Pelvic floor and abdominals. Is your exercise pelvic-floor-safe? Coordination and "good" technique.
Week 6️⃣ - Dynamic sitting: daily care for your pelvic floor
Week 7️⃣ - More fun ways to engage your pelvic floor. Learning to differentiate "helper" muscles and different areas of your PF
Week 8️⃣ - More breathing: one more diaphragm? Using your glottis to support your pelvic floor recovery.
We will also cover daily life strategies like toileting, and choice of clothing and shoewear - little tricks that make a world of difference.
It's time to claim your pelvic floor power. Let it be secret no more.
