Secret Nation is proud to present an evening of Candian indie folk in the round. Toronto based folk duo Robinson Kirby and songwriter Claire Hunter will be joined by St. John's songwriter Len O'Neill and local songwriter Noah Malcolm. They'll be playing in the round, sharing stories and songs in a songwriter circle format. Doors at 7, music at 8.
Queer singer-songwriter Noah Malcolm is one of the East Coast's new musical ambassadors, playing across Canada, JUNOfest 2024 (Halifax) & 2025 (Vancouver), M for Montreal, Folk Music Ontario, English Folk Expo (UK) and winning 4 Music PEl awards and a 2025 ECMA (Pop Recording of the Year). With tracks on Spotify Editorial playlists, Alexrainbird's Youtube (1.4M subscribers) and sync placements on Hallmark, CBC Gem and Family Channel, his audience is ever-expanding. Offering a mix of playful humour and heartfelt emotion, his ear-catching vocals float over deft acoustic guitar and piano in folk and alt-pop styles.
Toronto-based Robinson Kirby has been celebrated for their heartfelt harmonies, introspective lyrics, and the emotional depth of their music, as it navigates love, longing, and personal growth. Their second EP Where Are You Now gained recognition for their intimate, captivating performances and their ability to connect deeply with audiences. By blending modern folk sensibilities with classic influences, Robinson Kirby has become a rising force in Toronto's indie music scene. They are currently working on their debut album.
Claire Hunter is a Toronto-based singer/songwriter whose dreamy folk-pop creates intimate moments of reflection. In 2022, Claire released the single ‘Dancing in the Light’, which explores the nuances of long-term friendship. The release was accompanied by a visually captivating music video directed by Dwi Riana. Over the years, Claire has played iconic Toronto stages such as Cameron House, Horseshoe, and Drake Underground, toured across Ontario, and opened for Canadian acts like Joshua Hyslop and Great Lake Swimmers. She is looking forward to releasing new music in the near future.
Len O’Neill is a singer-songwriter from St. John’s, Newfoundland, who first made his mark playing guitar and bass in local rock bands. He went on to front Green & Gold, an award-winning indie group that released two albums and toured the East Coast. These days, Len’s focus is on lyric-driven solo work that explores themes like ambition, interpersonal relationships, and personal growth. His debut solo album, Out of View, marks a shift toward a more vulnerable, storytelling style. Here’s what songwriter John Moran has to say about Len’s work: “He’s got songs that are meaningful in a way that most songwriters struggle to achieve, he’s not just stringing together a bunch of lyrics and chords that sound cool – he’s speaking from the heart and giving you something you might need. He writes in the way that you’d hope to be spoken to by a good friend during a challenging time.”
