As Mr Bungle heads off the road, Secret Chiefs 3 are starting to emerge again for all new music, their first in years. They just appeared at Big Ears Festival in 2024 and supported Dillinger Escape Plan this past August in Chicago. The Chiefs also just headline Subterranean Dissonance Festival in Philly last month along side Thou. They’ll also coheadline down in Australia with Blood Incantation this November.All of this is leading up to a 2026 focus as there are a series of albums planned for 2026, the band first in years. Including the long waited Holy Vehm album, a UR record, and one with Kronos Quartet.
The band just wrapped up a run of shows at John Zorn’s Stone, Philly’s Solar Myth, and Union Pool & Nublu in NYC premiering all new music. The shows featured longtime chiefs members and nyc royalty: Shazad Ismaily, Ches Smith, Adam Minkoff, Matt Hollenberg and of course Trey Spruance.
