Second Site // Confessional // A workshop with Jane Fletcher

This is workshop is connected to Second Site, an exhibition showing artist books made by 9 diverse artists from around the UK. These works have a particular and unifying distinction in that they are all anchored to, extended from or pivoting around a second, separate artwork or artefact made by the artist. They are, as such, a new site of enquiry springing from the first work. The books will be shown alongside their counterpart works of art, with a reading space set out for gallery visitors to enjoy an interlude of looking at the books themselves.

Jane Fletcher’s work explores the cathartic anonymity of posting intimate words online, away from face to face presence, and this workshop is a creative and collaborative opportunity to consider Instagram as a distanced platform for a confessional art practice, with time to develop your own work, based on personal experiences, emotions and memories.
