Matriarchies, polyamorous primates, same-sex sex and parenting, trans animals, male pregnancies, and more. SECOND NATURE uncovers vast queerness throughout the animal kingdom.
Produced and narrated by Elliot Page, SECOND NATURE was created by a group of queer, BIPOC, and immigrant scientists challenging what we’ve always been taught is “natural.” The film proves that queerness is not just an outlier, but found throughout more than 1500 thriving species!

Elixir Music House is a beloved independent music venue & community arts space in Cairns. It is a safe space for diverse artists. We will be hosting the screening in the Melting Pot venue upstairs which has been donated for the screening.
The Bat & Tree Society of Cairns is dedicated to protecting the endangered Spectacled Flying Foxes of Far North Queensland. They provide community education outreach, funding for bat rescuers and carers, and advocacy for habitat protection. "Speckies” are a critical keystone pollinator here in the Wet Tropics.
