Celebrate Earth Day on the W-A-L-K Nature Route! Grab your friends and family, and join the ODWNA, the Kalamazoo Earth Day Festival, and the Stewards of Glen Park for a free 1.7 mile walk, run, or "plog" through Kleinstuck Preserve, along the Oakland Drive-Winchell Neighborhood's W-A-L-K Nature Route, and ending in Glen Park North. The start line will be at the back corner of the Maple Street YMCA outdoor tennis courts. Please park in the Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church parking lot, 931 W Maple St, Kalamazoo, MI 49008. Participants will set off into Kleinstuck Preserve, enjoy the .6 mile path through this Kalamazoo gem, and exit onto Chevy Chase Blvd. Follow the W-A-L-K Nature Route across Oakland Drive, past Woods Lake at Kensington Park, and finish at Glen Park North (2731 Wellington Road).
Haven't heard of "plogging?" Neither had we - it's a Swedish activity combining jogging and picking up trash. What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to help clean up Mother Earth? The City of Kalamazoo will provide all the tools we need to plog our way to Glen Park North.
Our finish line celebration will feature fun activities, tables from our sponsors, water and snacks. Open Roads will be providing free bike tune-ups, so please join for the finish line celebration, even if you can't participate in the walk/run. We'll be out there rain or shine!
