Second Annual Adult Spelling Bee

We are holding our second ever Adult Spelling Bee! We are looking to raise money and share the love of literacy with the community.

The McLit Bee Benefit is an evening of unforgettable fun that heightens community awareness, shares our impact, and increases the understanding of the vital role that adult education and literacy play in our community.

We truly believe the learning process never stops and an Adult Spelling Bee demonstrates that beautifully!

It is also a fun way to raise money, promote literacy, and bring together a diverse audience. The second annual spelling bee will be held in the Labor Temple on October 7th at 6pm.

The Spelling Bee is our main fundraiser of the year. Teams of two compete against each other to garner the title “Best Speller in Wausau.” Each member of the winning team gets a trophy and certificate declaring their title. This year, returning players will be back in new teams so competition will be fierce.

The public can help by contributing to our silent auction, sponsoring a team for $100, volunteering to help at the bee on October 7th, or buying a $10 ticket and coming to enjoy a night of spelling, pizza, and non-alcoholic beverages.

Our funds go directly into helping Wausau’s literacy. Our students - and the greater Wausau area - benefit greatly from these donations.

Spectator tickets will go on sale soon so stay tuned to our socials for more information!

There will also be a silent auction with donated gift baskets from local organizations.

Participants will be organizations from the community. Last year, GEM Learning Center’s team the Arc-Hives won our first place prize!
