https://athenslibrary.libcal.com/event/13124206Let’s take a deep dive into how to utilize the census within your own research. Census records provide valuable clues to locate a person in earlier censuses and other records, including an approximate date of birth, place of birth, place of each parent’s birth, date of marriage, number of children born to each woman, year of immigration to the U.S., military service, and ownership of real estate. In this first session of 3, we will review how to access the census as well as best practice search strategies to find those often misspelled and misattributed ancestors. Join the Heritage Room for this hybrid informational session on how to best access and search through the Federal Population Census. Attendees will walk away with a comprehensive handout and new knowledge to enhance their research skills. Sessions 2 & 3 will be offered in November and December, respectively.
