Sea shanties with Sean is a lively workshop that brings everyone together for a community experience of singing and hollering! Shanties and other nautically-themed songs will be sung and instructed by Sean following the performance in the first half of the evening. We'll warm up with a simple song instructed and sung together, followed by a short introduction to the world of shanties covering the variety of forms, explaining the types of war they accompany. The audience will be taught the refrains and choruses for each song and be invited to sing along to the shanties. The repertoire will progress in complexity, demonstrating the different types of shanties. These will be interspersed with a few sea-themed ballads, accompanied by Sean on Irish bouzouki. No previous shanty-singing experience is required! ..And "bad singers" are welcome--agruably necessary!! Heave-away!!!
