Dive into coastal adventures! Hands‑on workshops for ages 10–18 to explore, protect & celebrate  the North East shoreline.
About this Event

The sessions — part of a joint project between Durham Wildlife Trust and UK marine charity Sea Changers — bring 13 coastal adventures to locations along the Durham coast.

Young people will dive into shoreline surveys (including rockpooling), take part in cetacean and bird counts, get hands‑on with habitat management, and tackle litterpicks. Each activity helps participants reconnect with nature and each other, boosting wellbeing, confidence and a sense of coastal pride.

Session three will feature a bird survey at Souter Rocks.

Other sessions planned through to next year will include: sea mammal surveys, bird surveys, shark and ray egg cases surveys, habitat management, litter picks and beach cleans

What to bring:

Comfortable outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather on the day and sturdy footwear.

Booking & safety:

Booking required via this website or Eventbrite.

Sessions are inclusive however these session require attendees to be able to walk approx. 200m to the rock line and to access the rock pools there.

Carers welcome for participants needing one-to-one support.
