About this Event
Join us for an unforgettable night of theater at Yale Vermilion Theater's Spring 2026 production!
"Sea of the Daughters" is set in a patriarchal coastal village and centered on a mother and daughter as they navigate inherited trauma, memory, and resistance through a ritual of collecting seashells—objects that hold stories of women lost to the sea. This production will bring a new dimension to the university arts scene by creating a space for intimate reflection on gender, intergenerational memory, and collective storytelling, using an original piece that blends poetic symbolism with urgent social themes.
The show is open to public and tickets are pay-as-you-wish.
Live subtitles of English/Chinese will be provided accordingly while actors are using the other language to perform on stage.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to witness the power of live performance and we hope to see you there!
Yale Vermilion Theater was founded in 2021, consisting of Yale affiliates across schools and disciplines, as well as community members from the greater New Haven area.
Yale Vermilion Theater 耶鲁朱雀剧社 is Yale’s first and only bilingual theater club and was named after the mythological vermilion bird from Chinese tradition, which symbolizes rebirth and resilience. We are inspired to adapt plays from Chinese-speaking regions into bilingual forms to facilitate cross-cultural conversations. As we learn about the possibility of safely returning to theater in a world forever changed by COVID, we hope that our organization will bring long-isolated people together, share a sense of normalcy and build a much needed community.
