The story unfolds through the lens of Anne's diary entries, reflecting her personal thoughts, fears, and dreams as she grapples with the harsh realities of life in hiding. The narrative explores the dynamics between the inhabitants of the annex, their struggles with confinement, fear of discovery, and the occasional glimmers of hope amidst the darkness of war. Ultimately, the play culminates in their tragic betrayal and arrest by the Gestapo, leading to Anne's untimely death in a concentration camp, but her enduring legacy through her diary.
This is a difficult read that grapples with violence.
