Are you in your first year of roller derby? Did you pass your very first roller derby skills test between October 1st, 2024 and October 1st, 2025? Then Scrim Scram is the perfect chance for you to get real game experience in a supportive, low-pressure environment!
😻 Held during the Mitten Kittens Tournament in Fraser, Michigan, Scrim Scram 2025 will take place at 9:00 AM on Sunday, October 19th. This annual event is designed to help brand-new skaters build confidence, learn through live gameplay, and connect with others at the same stage of their derby journey.
🛼 How does Scrim Scram work?
▪ Each line will include one of our Scrim Scram Vets—experienced skaters who are there to guide you, not take over.
▪ Vets do not jam or pivot.
▪ At halftime, they’ll switch teams to give everyone new perspectives and support.
▪ This scrimmage isn’t about being competitive—it’s about learning, calm communication, and gaining valuable track experience.

💸 What’s the cost?
$35, which includes:
✔ A Scrim Scram jersey with your number
✔ A Championship Sunday day pass for the Mitten Kittens Tournament
If you’re offered a spot (and not waitlisted), you’ll get an invoice by email.

✅ Who can participate?
▪ Skaters 18 or older in their first year of roller derby
▪ Passed your first-ever skills test between October 1, 2024 and October 1, 2025
▪ Must have current derby insurance
▪ Priority is given to Michigan league members. If space allows, out-of-state skaters who meet the criteria will be added to the roster.
▪ WFTDA Gender Guidelines apply
📋 How many skaters can sign up?
We’re capping the event at 20 skaters total (including vets) per roster to keep it focused and beginner-friendly.
Signups are first come, first served. If everyone signs up to block and no one wants to jam… well, I might have to shake things up a bit. 😉 Trying new things is how we grow!
