Teens will explore the art, history, and symbolism of scrolls, seals, and handmade written messages in this ScribeCraft workshop.
This hands-on program looks at how written words were once prepared, presented, protected, and authenticated. Participants will learn about the role of scribes, messengers, seals, signatures, and personal marks, then create their own scroll-inspired project using decorative writing, presentation techniques, and seal-making elements.
This version goes a little deeper than a simple craft project, connecting the finished piece to history, identity, communication, and the ways people gave meaning and authority to written words.
Participants will:
• Explore the history and purpose of scrolls and seals
• Learn how seals, symbols, and signatures helped protect and identify messages
• Create a scroll-style project with a more polished presentation
• Experiment with decorative lettering and historical inspiration
• Take home a finished piece that feels personal, meaningful, and handmade
A creative workshop for teens interested in history, art, writing, symbolism, and hands-on making.
