Screening:The Open Road - 1926
About this Event
1926
A hundred years ago - an absolutely beautiful documentary film using early colour technology. Take a trip around Britain on ‘the open road’ from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Directed by Claude Friese-Greene, the son of William Friese-Greene, one of the early inventors of moving pictures. Colour was achieved by alternating red and blue-green filters over each frame of the black & white film as it was projected. Magical.
