Synopsis: In 2023, actress Emmanuelle Béart revealed publicly that she is a survivor of incest, contributing to a growing national reckoning on child sexual abuse in France. Alongside co-director Anastasia Mikova, Béart creates a powerful documentary that gives a voice to survivors, confronting the societal taboos and legal shortcomings in a country where a child is sexually abused every three minutes. Initially reluctant to include her own story, Béart ultimately shares the devastating impact of the silence imposed by abusers, describing it as a noise that takes many forms within the victim. Through personal and collective testimonies, this stirring film explores the enduring trauma of incest and offers a universal message of resilience and solidarity.
Organized by the Princeton Film Festival organization, in collaboration with the French & Francophone Society, Graduate Student Government (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion), and The Sexual Harassment/Assault Advising, Resources and Education (SHARE) office.
