About this Event
Don’t Miss the Screening of Documentary "Mufote"!
Join us for an in-person event featuring a special viewing of the gripping documentary "Mufote" about Juan Francisco Gonzalez Aguilar, who went by his stage name Paco Mufote ("Mufote" was taken from his three main artistic endeavors, Musica, Fotografia, and Teatro). The film is in Spanish and English with subtitles.
Paco was a widely respected actor and musician from Tijuana whose work bridged the independent art scenes of Tijuana, San Diego, and Los Angeles.
In 2022, Paco tragically passed away in an auto accident while working on the Netflix production The Chosen One. His sudden death sent shockwaves through the creative communities of Tijuana and Southern California.
In the aftermath, Tijuana playwright and actor Alan Márquez Lobato and I began work on a documentary to preserve Paco’s story and artistic legacy. What began as a short film quickly grew into a feature-length documentary, driven by the depth of his influence and the number of artists whose lives he touched.
