This SCREEN/PRINT X PRISM collab celebrates LGBTQ+ History Month with three drag queens en route to Hollywood. Attendees will receive a free To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar poster by Ezra Pinkerton.
Noxeema Jackson (Wesley Snipes), Vida Boheme (Patrick Swayze) and Chi Chi Rodriguez (John Leguizamo), three stars of New York’s drag-queen beauty pageant circuit, have hit the open road in a 1967 Cadillac convertible. Destination: Hollywood. But the trio is in for a detour when the car breaks down in the tiny midwestern town of Snydersville, where drag queens are about as common as August snowstorms.
During the course of one incredible weekend (and this one incredibly fabulous screening), eyes will be opened, broken hearts healed, and hair teased within an inch of its life.
Screening as part of the Naughton Gallery’s SCREEN/PRINT series in collaboration with QFT and UsFolk. The specially commissioned illustrated poster for To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar was created by Ezra Pinkerton, the current Graduate-in-Residence at the Belfast School of Art. Programmed to celebrate queer cinema and illustration during LGBT+ History Month, this screening marks the fifth SCREEN/PRINT collaboration with PRISM, the Queen's University Belfast LGBTQIA+ staff network.
