Step in front of the camera and learn what it really takes to perform on screen.
This practical workshop introduces young actors to the fundamentals of screen acting - and how it differs from stage performance. Through guided exercises and real-time feedback, participants will build confidence, sharpen their instincts and develop practical on-camera skills.
Led by actor, director, and coach Brett Rogers, the session offers a hands-on introduction to working in film and television, with a focus on technique, awareness and presence.
In this session, you’ll explore:
The key differences between stage and screen acting
Basic screen terminology and on-set language
Working with the camera, including framing and eyelines
Acting techniques for film and television
Improvisation exercises to build spontaneity and confidence
What to bring:
Water bottle (and a snack if needed)
Something to take notes on
Comfortable clothes you can move in
About Brett:
Brett Rogers is a NIDA graduate and professional actor, director and acting coach with extensive experience across theatre, film and television. His screen credits include Rake, Australian Gangster, and the feature films All About E and Dark Noise.
Brett has trained internationally at the Stella Adler Studio in New York and is a recipient of the Mike Walsh Fellowship. He is passionate about mentoring young performers, helping them build confidence, creativity and strong on-camera skills.
