Downtown Sunbury is getting a little spooky this October with the first-ever Screams & Scenes, a new fall festival combining local history, Halloween fun, and community activities in the heart of downtown.
The weekend will kick off Friday, October 9 with a showing of Hocus Pocus in Cameron Park at 7pm, giving families and community members a chance to bring their blankets and chairs and enjoy a fall movie night under the stars.
The fun continues Saturday, October 10 from 4 - 8 pm when Cameron Park transforms into a fall festival featuring local vendors, food trucks, Halloween-themed treats, activities, and entertainment throughout the evening.
A major part of this year's event will be a partnership with Susquehanna University, with students helping bring Screams & Scenes to life through performers, student vendors, volunteers, and other involvement throughout the festival.
The signature attraction of the evening will take visitors beyond Cameron Park and onto the streets of Downtown Sunbury. A family-friendly walking ghost tour will feature actors stationed outside historic buildings along Market Street, sharing spooky stories, local legends, and pieces of Sunbury's history.
Visitors will receive a Screams & Scenes passport and collect stamps as they make their way to each ghostly stop. Those who complete the route can return their finished passport for a prize.
Screams & Scenes was created as a new way to celebrate the fall season while also encouraging visitors to explore Downtown Sunbury, learn about its historic buildings, support local businesses and vendors, and experience downtown in a different way.
With movie night on Friday followed by an evening of vendors, food, performances, history, and Halloween fun on Saturday, SRI hopes Screams & Scenes will become a new fall tradition for Downtown Sunbury.
