On Saturday, June 20th, get ready to SCREAM UNTIL DAWN, when The Mahoning Drive-In Theater presents a 35mm triple feature of Wes Craven’s classic slasher trilogy that re-energized the genre on the big, BIG screen!
Join us as we take a trip back to Woodsboro, Windsor College, and Hollywood, as Ghostface stalks Sidney Prescott, her friends and family though multiple cities and sequels, an undying killer that can only be foiled by figuring out the conventions of the horror genre and subverting them.
SCREAM (1996) brought back the American horror film, long thought dead like a masked killer in a franchise flick, popping back up with new energy, leading to a string of films starring young, attractive casts, with hip soundtracks and similar poster designs, playing off genre cliches of the previous decade and putting their own twist upon them.
Someone in a grotesque mask and black hooded robe is killing the students at Woodsboro High, and it’s up to Sidney Prescott and her friends, guided by film obsessive Randy, to discover the killer’s identity and stop the slashing before they all wind up on the victim list!
With Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Drew Barrymore, Skeet Ulrich, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, and Jamie Kennedy.
A year later, our survivors head off to college in Ohio, putting their horrific pasts behind them…until Ghostface shows up and resumes the reaping! A horror sequel that pokes fun at the conventions of horror sequels, SCREAM 2 (1997) continues the thrills, chills, and laughs, and keeps you guessing up to the final reveal of the killer.
Joining the class this time are Jada Pinkett Smith, Omar Epps, Heather Graham, Elise Neal, and Liev Schreiber.
SCREAM 3 (2000) moves the action to Hollywood, where the third sequel in a series of slasher films based on the Woodsboro murders (STAB) is in production, and cast members start turning up dead at the hands of a very familiar (Ghost) face. Our survivors from the real-world killings join in the fight against the killer, in a sequel that blurs fantasy and reality, and folds back in on itself as the worlds of STAB and SCREAM merge into yet another smart, bloody satire of slasher sequels.
With Patrick Dempsey, Parker Posey, Emily Mortimer, Jenny McCarthy, Kelly Rutherford, Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, and Roger Corman!
Limber up your vocal cords, lock your car doors, and get ready to dodge Ghostface and SCREAM ALL NIGHT!
Gates open at 6pm, showtime at sundown.
Arrive early for a live themed DJ set, raffle, food special, and more SCREAM-tastic fun!
All events are rain or shine. no refunds or transfers.
