A 3hr workshop, learning a traditional hand sewn patchwork technique, at Scrapspace Brighton, repurposing their scrap cotton fabrics.
About this Event

Come learn English paper piecing (EPP)a traditional hand sewn technique , inherently portable , eco friendly, and creative.

You will learn to cut, wrap geometric card templates with fabric, stitch them together to create some dazzling stars. Have a dip into fussy cutting , and look at some of the tessellating designs ,to grow your piece, into a cushion cover, or quilt top. Or use your finished piece like a patch, to sew on to a small drawstring bag (provided), or a pair of jeans.

After starting patchwork, I developed a second hobby, 'fabric buying!'Getting older and more enviromentally consious, I decided to change my mission to," Use the fabric already have stashed". Since discovering Scrap space,I realise I can 'RESCUE' fabric from landfill, collecting without the guilt or cost!

I love how recycled, repurposed fabric adds to the creative process, using colours and patterns I might not have bought, and how EPP can use up surprisingly small pieces, to make something unique and beautiful.

We will be in Brighton Scrapspace's sun lit community Craft room, recycling card, using scrap quilting cottons, collected and washed by me from Scrapspace .

All materials are supplied. Tea and biscuits.

All hand sewing abilities are welcome.
