But I…
Don’t know how to junk journal/am a beginner!- That’s okay! Usually half of attendees are new to junk journaling and half are more experienced! We welcome all levels! Bring your journal and preferred supplies, or come as you are - we have journals for $8 or you can collage on paper.
Don’t have a friend to go with me!- That’s okay! Most attendees come alone and are happy to chat and make new friends!
Am allergic to farmer’s markets!- No real farmer’s markets were harmed or used in the making of this event, we just love how cute gingham and summer vegetables and berries look in our journals! We support local farmer’s markets!
We hope you enjoy a crafty evening filled with flaps, scraps, and yaps!!!
About the Instructor:
Emily is the creator behind @emily_made_universe, where she shares her love of junk journaling, collage, and all things paper magic. She has been crafting since childhood, turning what began as cutting up magazines into a creative practice rooted in storytelling through scraps. She is also the founder of @junk.this.universe, a small business designing junk journal supplies and a monthly zine meant to be opened, read, and ripped into your art. Emily loves bringing people together through creativity, and is excited to create a welcoming space for both beginners and experienced journalers to explore, experiment, and make something uniquely their own.
About Sunset Commons:
Carmen and Steven started Sunset Commons to provide a space to connect and build community through arts and craft activities led by talented local artists. Inspired by a love for creativity and a desire to foster connection in the Sunset District, we envisioned a “third space” where neighbors can gather, unwind, and form meaningful relationships. Our mission is to empower self-expression, boost confidence, and offer an inclusive haven for everyone, from introverts seeking a calm environment to those enjoying health-focused traditional teas. Sunset Commons is not just a business - it’s our way of enriching the community we love and to the city we both grew up in.
*Our events are often photographed and filmed so we can share the fun with our community. If you don’t want to be on camera, no worries—let us know before the event.
