Scouting America Swim Tests: Safety and EnduranceTo ensure the safety of all participants during water activities, the **Scouting swim test** is mandatory for every youth and adult. The test consists of two parts: a **safe-swim-defense** component and a **swimmer classification**. First, participants must jump feetfirst into water over their head, level off, and swim 75 yards in a continuous manner using a strong stroke (e.g., breaststroke, crawl, or side stroke). Immediately after, they must swim 25 yards using an easy, resting backstroke. This continuous 100-yard swim must be done without stopping or touching the pool bottom. Finally, participants must perform a survival float in place for a minimum of one minute.
