WHO - All Scouts and their friends. Bring a buddy and show them how fun Scouting events can be! Some fishing rods will be available onsite to use.
You are welcome to bring your own.
WHAT - This event is to take part in the statewide Free Fishing Weekend (no license required)! What better way than to fish with friends, experts, and Scouts?!
Volunteers from Mass Wildlife and Northeast District Scouting Units will be on hand to provide:
* Help with skills (and possibly fishing related requirements for current Scouts)
* Loaner fishing rods will be available courtesy of Mass Wildlife
* Donated bait from Tom's Bait & Tackle in Middleboro
This is also a FISHING DERBY, which means there will be PRIZES!! (More info will be posted as we get closer to the event)
WHERE - Massasoit State Park 1361 Middleboro Ave., East Taunton, MA 02718
Planned to be held on the shoreline of Lake Rico off of Middleboro Ave.
Check-in location: A tent located on the shore of Lake Rico between the cartop boat ramp and the dam. Signs will be posted.
Parking instructions: Park in designated roadside lots along Middleboro Ave. Participants may have to enter the park at the main entrance and make their way out to our location if parking becomes full.
WHY - Go fishing and a chance to win a prize! SCOUTS: Possibility of earning fishing related requirements (we are trying to have Fishing Merit Badge Counselors present as well as Cub Scout requirements posted)
WHEN - June 2nd, 2024
Come any time between 10:00am - 2:00pm
Check In at 10:00am Wrap Up will start around 1:30pm Closing/Clean Up just before 2:00pm
HOW - Register online today!
Scouts are encouraged to wear your Pack/Troop Class B shirt.
No food will be provided.
