The community is invited to attend the next Ascension Coffee House on Friday, February 14th, which takes place in Tonsmeire Hall at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Cartersville. This local listening room for original music gives songwriters an opportunity to share their creative work with an appreciative audience. Scott Turner will be the featured songwriter this month.
Originally hailing from Panama City, Florida, Scott Turner has called Georgia home since 1993. From an early age, music was woven into his life, thanks to a rich tapestry of influences that ranged from the timeless soul of Sam Cooke and the charisma of Elvis to the storytelling of folk music and the eclectic gems his mother brought home from the jukebox at work—spanning everything from Kool & The Gang to David Allan Coe. With a deep appreciation for all genres, Turner draws inspiration from the emotional power of music. This heartfelt connection fuels his songwriting, where every lyric and melody is crafted to move listeners. Turner delivers performances that are as genuine as they are evocative, capturing the power of music to connect, heal, and inspire.
Rick McKee will continue to serve as host and offer his original songs. McKee is a singer/songwriter, composer, music educator, and multi-instrumentalist from Cartersville. He has released three albums on the Cosmic Possum label. His new album BROKEN RECORD is available on your favorite streaming platform.
Admission is free to the community, but all voluntary donations collected will benefit the Clergy Discretionary Fund or The Red Door Food Pantry. Bring a toiletry item to donate to the food pantry, if you can.
