Partners may communicate freely during their inning, but conversation must not slow play—aim for 45 seconds or less per shot. The non‑shooting player may point to areas of the table but must not touch any ball or mark the cloth or place any aiming aids. General strategy ... for example, "Shoot the 3 in the corner and leave me on the 4 in the side" .
Each Scotch Doubles pair is allowed a one‑minute time‑out per match. During the time-out, players may touch or place any ball-in-hand, give specific instruction, point to spots on the rail or on the table. No Marking of the table or placement of chalk or other aiming aids.
Players can switch up rotation in each game, but may not change rotation once established during the game.
9-Ball on the break gets spotted. Failure to make called shot results in loss of turn. Ball in hand anywhere on the table for fouls including scratch on the break.
In 9-Ball you get one push after the break, if a push‑out is played after the break and the opponents decline the shot, the player who executed the push‑out returns to the table to continue. The push‑out is treated as a single shot with two parts.
Three consecutive fouls is loss of game. Scratches count toward 3 fouls. Opponent must warn you when on two fouls.
Slopped in ball is opponents option to make you continue shooting. Jumping Allowed from Cloth Square if provided as long as establishment allows it.
All Close Hits without a designated referee will go to the shooter.
If the opponent asks for a ref, you must not shoot until one is present to observe the shot. Once designated a referee will make the final call. "Slow Mo" recording is suggested.
Winners Stay On Table and Rack for Incoming Team.
**Team Events No Skip Chips, No 4 Win Cool-down.**
**Special Fouls**
Disturbing a ball before a shot is Opponents Option to restore.
Restoring a Disturbed ball without Opponent consent is Ball in Hand. Disturbing More Than One Ball before a shot is Ball in Hand. Disturbing any balls During a shot is Ball in Hand Foul. To Clarify, if a ball is Disturbed while stroking into the cue ball and no restoration is possible since the shot has already occurred is ball in hand. Placing Hands in pocket to "Catch" a scratching ball is Ball In Hand. "Sharking" tactics will not be tolerated. Approaching the table, grabbing chalk off of the table while opponent is down on a shot, grabbing the ball rack and breaking down a cue other than to jump a ball during your turn, moving around in line of sight, etc. You will get a warning, a loss of rack, and a loss of Tournament progressively for repeated offenses.
Any verbal statements that insinuate that the game is over will be binding. Things like "Nice Game", "You Got It", "You Don't Have to Shoot That" etc
