What can simple model organisms like fish, flies, worms, yeast, and bacteria teach us about human health?Sanford researcher Dr. Kurt Warnhoff uses model organism C. elegans (a type of worm) in his day-to-day work to explore the mechanism of health and survival. Come learn from Kurt about some weird, wild stuff that is currently being researched and what our best models to date are.
Kurt Warnhoff is an assistant scientist in the Pediatrics and Rare Disease group at Sanford Research. His work focuses on the role of the molybdenum cofactor in health and disease. He has broad training in genetics, genomics, molecular biology, and biochemistry with specific expertise in gene discovery and characterization using the nematode C. elegans.
