Join us at Free State Brewing Company for Science on Tap with Dr. Ana Rita C. Morais, the Deputy Director of the Wonderful Institute for Sustainable Engineering (WISE) and Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering.

Did you know Polyethylene (PE) is one of the most common plastics in the United States, with millions of tons produced every year? Yet almost none of it gets recycled, mainly due to inefficient mechanical recycling processes. In this talk, Dr. Morais will explore a new idea: using pressurized carbon dioxide (CO2) to help convert PE waste into valuable products. Join us and learn how CO₂ can be leveraged to make chemical processing of PE waste, and potentially other plastics, more efficient, more selective, and more sustainable.
This free presentation/Q&A is open to the public and will be held in the beer hall area at Free State Brewing Company. Please note that seating is limited, so we encourage you to arrive early!
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend University of Kansas sponsored events. If you require a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this event, please contact Natalie Vondrak, [email protected].
