About this Event
Welcom back to Science Cafe! We've been away too long, and we have a brilliant new venue - the MV Balmoral, an historic ship moored under crane 29 in Bristol’s heritage harbour.
Our first speaker is retired ecologist, Peter Loy-Hancocks. He will be taking the long-view with his presentation, 'A Million Years of Climate Change'. As well as looking backwards into the past, he'll be highlighting some current climate and environmental trends and exploring what the future might hold. This promises to be a thought provoking and, perhaps, challenging presentation. For example, Peter will point out that many of the 'record levels' of various climate elements that we are currently experiencing relate to '... in recorded time', which is different to '... in all time'.
As usual, after a 30-40 minute presentation, we'll break for 15 minutes and then have the Q&A session until we run out of ideas, or until the bar closes at 10.30.
Doors open at 7.00 for a 7.45 start. Come early for a quick tour around the Balmoral boat and get a drink at the bar.
If you could spare a £1 coin or two, that will help with costs.
