About this Event
Join us for an engaging evening exploring how ecotourism can serve as a bridge between environmental conservation, community well-being, and sustainable economic development.
Dr. Gyan Nyaupane will share a global perspective on how tourism—particularly ecotourism—can link biodiversity conservation with poverty reduction efforts. Drawing from research and policy work across Asia, Africa, and the United States, he will introduce tools and frameworks designed to support sustainable tourism and resilient communities.
Dr. Nicholas Wise will shift the lens to sporting tourism, focusing on how outdoor events like trail running can shape travel-related carbon footprints. His research explores the role of environmental consciousness and how event organizers can encourage more sustainable travel behaviors to reduce environmental impact.
Together, these two scholars from Arizona State University’s Center for Sustainable Tourism will offer thought-provoking insights into the power of tourism as a tool for positive global change—connecting people, places, and the planet.
