Join us for a compelling Schwarzman Session on the nuances of finding truth in today's media landscape. Led by Hridhay Suresh '26MA from the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, this session will delve into the challenges of media literacy in our fast-paced information age.
In an era where anyone with a blog or social media account can claim the title of citizen journalist, evaluating the credibility of news has become increasingly difficult. The rapid spread of information often leads to snap judgments and controversy before all the facts are known. Political pressures further complicate messages, influencing what is reported and how.
Despite efforts to teach critical thinking skills, uncovering the truth in modern media can be overwhelming. Recent polls suggest that trust in media, particularly in the U.S, is at an all-time low. How do we navigate this complex environment? What is truth in the 21st century, and how do we find it?
This event will be held in the Peck Room (in the far back of Commons) at Yale Schwarzman Center, 168 Grove Street, New Haven, CT 06511.
Schwarzman Sessions are peer-led gatherings where conversations generate collaborations and move ideas into action. Because seats are limited, registrants will be automatically placed on the waitlist and will be notified via email if they are selected to participate.
