Help shape road safety improvements outside your school

Cumberland Council is inviting headteachers, school leaders and nominated representatives to attend a free School Road Safety Workshop and help influence future road safety improvements across Cumberland.

This interactive workshop is an opportunity for schools to share their experiences, discuss local concerns and explore practical ways to improve safety for pupils, parents, carers and staff travelling to and from school.

Road safety is about more than signs, road markings and physical infrastructure. Through closer collaboration with schools, we want to better understand local challenges and explore a range of measures that can support safer, healthier and more sustainable journeys.

By attending, you'll be able to:

• Share road safety concerns and challenges affecting your school.
• Discuss issues such as congestion, parking, speeding and pedestrian safety.
• Learn about successful interventions already introduced at other schools.
• Explore measures including speed reduction schemes, signage, bollards, crossings and traffic management solutions.
• Discover initiatives that encourage active travel and safer behaviours, including walking, wheeling and cycling programmes.
• Network with other schools and hear about their experiences.
• Help shape future road safety priorities and improvements across Cumberland.

Whether your school has specific concerns or simply wants to learn more about improving road safety, we would welcome your participation.

• Tuesday 29 September, 9.30am–12.30pm
• Friday 9 October, 9.30am–12.30pm

Venue: Civic Centre

Refreshments: Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available on arrival.

Places are free, but booking is essential.
