About this Event

Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR.

Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. is a high energy, family friendly musical that brings the beloved Saturday morning educational cartoons to life on stage. The story follows Tom, a nervous young teacher preparing for his first day in the classroom, who discovers that the characters from his favorite childhood cartoons can help him find the confidence to teach. Through memorable songs, energetic choreography, and plenty of fun, audiences experience lessons in grammar, math, science, history, and more in a whole new way.

Presented by the Innovative Arts Conservatory Foundation (IACF), this production serves as the culminating theatrical experience of the Expressions Summer Intensive, moving young artists from summer training into a full professional style production process. Students take the skills developed through Expressions and apply them through acting, singing, dancing, production, rehearsal, collaboration, and live performance.

Most importantly, this production provides a paid performance opportunity for participating young artists. IACF believes young people should not only have opportunities to develop their talents, but also begin to understand that their creativity, preparation, discipline, and artistic work have value. Providing compensation introduces students to the expectations and rewards of working as professional artists while helping make participation in the arts more accessible.

More than a musical, Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. represents IACF's commitment to building a pathway from arts education to real world industry experience. By connecting training, paid opportunities, professional mentorship, and public performance, IACF is helping young artists develop their craft, build confidence, gain professional experience, and imagine what is possible for their futures.

From Expressions to the stage, young artists move beyond learning the craft to experiencing what it means to work in it.
