4-Day School Holiday Keelboat / Elliott 7 Programme
Dates: Tuesday 23 – Friday 26 September 2025
Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily (Drop-off available from 8:30 AM)
Location: Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron
Age: 12-15 years with basic sailing skills
Take Your Sailing to the Next Level
Whether you’re looking to move towards the RNZYS Youth Training Programme or simply expand your sailing experience, this programme will give you the confidence and skills to sail as part of a team on our Elliott 7 keelboats.
What You Will Learn
- Sail in a team environment (4–5 sailors per boat)
- Improve your rules and tactical knowledge
- Gain an introduction to match racing
- Build confidence in keelboat boat handling
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun on the water during the school holidays.
About Your Coach: Zak Merton
Zak Merton is our Head Coach of the RNZYS Youth and Performance Programmes. A graduate of the Youth Training Programme, Zak has since won the Match Racing World Championships with Knots Racing, five national match racing titles, and three national keelboat championships. He became Head Coach in 2022 while continuing to compete internationally and remains an active sailor and experienced coach.
